This is one of those books for me. And I must issue a serious content warning: this book explores some very divisive ideas. This book is like the dystopian Lord of the Rings, with its richly developed culture and economics. The world-building is so fully fleshed out and spine-tinglingly terrifying I got the chills so many times toward the end of this book. It completely blew my mind. It managed to surpass my high expectations AND be nothing at all like I expected. I can’t imagine how challenging it would be to tackle the concepts and forewarning involved in writing a novel as telling as this in our current economical/political climate. With an unapologetically realistic delivery packed with emotion, Shadows of Giants is a crucially important portrayal of the current political economic landscape and gives hope for the future with nuggets of gold advice peppered throughout for us to find and apply to our daily lives. I have no doubt that this book will be met with resistance by some (possibly many) and slapped with a “controversial” label, but if you’ve ever wondered what our futures holds if we keep moving down this highway to mediocrity and less as a society, then I feel like this is an unflinchingly honest place to start.”

Many readers will find the lessons, perspectives and ideas presented in the book will be a refreshing inspiration as to where they would like to see the real world follow along, while other readers may find these same concepts to be pure fiction, nonsensical and down right insulting, and the author will clearly make the reader know which camp they reside in! There are many profound lessons, and concepts to be taken from this novel that will give the reader plenty to think about(and they should) once they finally put the book down. I think anyone from high school to retirement will find this book entrancing and educational and in a few areas it may even leave you wondering whether something is fact or fiction. I read this book in two sittings and then read it again in one. The tour de force of parallels of our current situation in this world is almost frighteningly real. The character formation is fantastic and I have never read science fiction that is so telling about reality. A must read for anyone who considers themselves a thinking person.

The author continues his science fiction escapades of Iggy Marcus and family in their quest to cleanse the world of immorality, injustice, and corruption. This book expands Iggy’s reach out of this world! While carrying the reader through problems that very closely parallel real-world issues of today, he explains the moral conflicts people face in the modern technologically advanced world. Ciccarone mixes Sci-fi technology, moral lessons, superhuman abilities, clever plots of trickery and even humor to keep the reader engaged as he whisks you through transformations of human social structure. Iggy and family cleverly outwit the most intelligent criminal and politically corrupt world players to set up the hopes of a utopian future for humanity, that will always require hard work and a strong moral foundation to maintain. His third book is filled with entertainment, parallels to reality and lessons on right vs wrong and good vs evil. I have greatly enjoyed all three books!
